When Accusations Fill the Air
Hello friends,
I just wanted to share a few thoughts.
My heart goes out to all those affected and influenced by the wave of accusations against ministries being named and highlighted in the media. Do I believe God is cleaning His house? Yes, I do. Do I believe it is God’s will for it to be aired out in the media? No, I don’t. But that is what is happening.
People have been hurt in the past, and now people are being hurt again—this time by reports and commentary. I will simply say this: I do not believe God is reaching back twenty years to pull up old, forgiven sins in order to “clean house” today. What I do believe is that an accusational spirit is running wild.
I also consider how many people view church life today. There are more “somebody done me wrong” songs than a person can keep up with, and sadly, far fewer praises coming from those who call themselves faithful. Where is the testimony? Where is the praise? Where is the willingness to stand with those under fire?
But look—throughout history, this kind of momentum has often been the standard way these things unfold. Group mindsets get rolling, and if people aren’t careful, it can turn into something ugly and extreme. So my point is this: now what? What are we supposed to do?
To any of you who are getting nervous and scared because you feel like no one is safe anymore—don’t give up. And to those of you training for ministry—don’t be shaken. Keep answering your call.
I’ve heard it said, “It’s not safe out there. If you go into ministry, someone will tear your family apart.” What I don’t hear enough is this: God protects His own. Hear His voice, obey the best you can, and trust that He has your back.
Trust Him.
