📌 Small Talk:
I am not very good at it…
I’ve learned something about myself over the years: I’m not very good at small talk. If I’m being honest, it often feels like wasted time — especially when the conversation only flows one way, and others want me to listen to every detail of their story but have no interest in hearing mine. In those moments, something in me wants to withdraw. It feels uneven, unbalanced, and a little draining. But the Lord has been teaching me that even in those awkward or lopsided interactions, there’s an opportunity tucked inside.
So instead of pulling back, I’m learning to lean in with kindness. Be interested. Care. Everyone — even the talkers, even the ones who don’t pause long enough to ask about your heart — wants to feel seen. And sometimes, simply giving someone your attention becomes a form of ministry all by itself. When you find yourself caught in those moments, treat it like a tiny mission field. Not every “assignment” comes wrapped in revelation; some come wrapped in conversation. And if you carry the love of God into the smallest exchanges, nothing is ever truly wasted.
