📌What to do with Condenscending People
1. Guard Your Spirit
Don’t let their tone or attitude get inside you. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Their words may sting, but you don’t have to agree with them or let them define you.
2. Choose Humility, Not Inferiority
Sometimes condescending people want a reaction. Jesus said, “Learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart” (Matt. 11:29). Humility isn’t weakness—it’s strength under control. You can choose to respond from a higher place without letting them put you down.
3. Respond Wisely, Not Emotionally
Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” You don’t have to match their tone. Sometimes the most powerful response is calm confidence.
4. Set Quiet Boundaries
If you can, limit unnecessary exposure. Even Jesus didn’t entrust Himself to everyone (John 2:24). You don’t need to absorb every cutting word. You can shift the conversation, shorten interactions, or politely excuse yourself when possible.
5. Pray and Release
Instead of carrying the offense, pray for them. Often, condescending people operate out of insecurity or pride. Your prayers may be the very thing God uses to soften them.
▪️Bottom line: You can’t always change them, but you can guard your peace and refuse to bow to their attitude. Your dignity in Christ stands taller than their condescension.
