Possessing Your Covenant

📌Possessing the Covenant You Already Have

“I’m sorry, but that information was not available to me at the time.”

That is what she told the Lord when she realized she could have lived a better life had she known about the Covenant.

📌My people die for lack of knowledge.

Why? Why do people not have the knowledge?

And yet… People are ignorant 😕

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” – Hosea 4:6

The Covenant of God isn’t locked away in some heavenly vault. It’s not reserved for a select few. In Christ, it’s already yours.

We have Bibles on our shelves, teaching available 24/7, and technology that places entire libraries at our fingertips. And yet, many Christians still live defeated, fearful, and unsure of God’s promises.

Why? Because truth that is available is not always possessed.

Knowing that the Covenant exists isn’t the same as living in it.

1 – Truth Must Be Personally Sought

Scripture: “If you cry out for insight… then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” – Proverbs 2:3–5

God has made His wisdom accessible, but it must be pursued like treasure. A dusty Bible, unopened, has no power in your life. Truth transforms only when it’s actively sought, meditated on, and obeyed.

Application: Treat God’s Word as your daily bread, not as an occasional snack.

2 – God’s Voice Over Second-Hand Faith

Scripture: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” – John 10:27

Teachers and pastors are valuable gifts to the Body of Christ, but your faith can’t survive on second-hand revelation. Without personally hearing God’s voice through His Word and Spirit, you risk building faith on human opinion instead of divine truth.

Application: Ask the Holy Spirit to confirm everything you hear and show you how it applies to your life.

3 – Truth Will Challenge Comfort

Scripture: “The word of God… judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word is a refining fire. It doesn’t just encourage – it corrects, convicts, and calls you higher. Avoiding convicting truth is like refusing medicine because it tastes bitter.

Application: Embrace the uncomfortable verses; they’re often the very ones that bring your breakthrough.

4 – The Enemy Blinds Minds

Scripture: “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers…” – 2 Corinthians 4:4

Satan’s goal is to keep people from seeing the light of the gospel. Even believers can experience a dullness or distraction that prevents them from fully seeing God’s promises.

Application: Pray Psalm 119:18 daily – “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.”

5 – The Word Must Be Mixed With Faith

Scripture: “…the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.” – Hebrews 4:2

The Bible isn’t just a book to be admired; it’s a covenant contract to be believed and acted upon. Reading without faith produces information, not transformation.

Application: Every time you read a promise, say it out loud and declare, “This is mine in Christ!”

6 – Don’t Wait for Someday

Scripture: “Make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:16

Spiritual inheritance isn’t something to claim “when things settle down” or “once I’m more spiritual.” The enemy doesn’t wait to attack; neither should you wait to arm yourself with truth.

Application: Begin possessing your Covenant rights today – before the storm comes.
